I thought that I would show these murals despite them being a few years old now. You never know …. someone might be reading this post, who would like one painted too…
The school library makeover was a great success. Before the transformation, the room was quite drab with pale walls and old brown furniture. The carpet was worn and the overall look was not child friendly.
The walls were painted bright colours, new carpet was laid, the old bookcases were repainted and two were made to look like giant story books. The school children were very interested to see the progress made over the weeks that followed. Colourful rugs, an oversized red clock and additional bookcases finished off the overall look.
On another occasion, I was asked to paint a mural on a school portakabin because a classroom looked straight onto its blank grey wall, a view not liked by the children and class teacher.
The area was washed and primed. I drew the design and painted it using acrylic paints, finally finishing off with a couple of coats of varnish. The children were delighted to see every stage of the process, and helped to paint the jungle grass.
