To make a collograph is quite simple, firstly you need plenty of scrap card, fabric, shredded paper in fact anything that looks like it has an interesting texture. Here the children cut a square of cardboard for the base to stick their textures to. PVA glue was used to stick the bits and bobs on, if you intend to make many prints from your collograph then it is a good idea to PVA over the textures to protect them. We didn’t do that as these were just being used the once.
Using a paint brush, printing ink was applied to the textures. A piece of paper was carefully laid over the top and gently smoothed down with a little pressure making sure that all areas were sufficiently pressed. Finally the paper was peeled from the collograph to reveal the print.
