Last Friday afternoon the Art Cabin held an exhibition of artworks past and present. Visitors were amazed at the high standard of work on display. All the art was created by children aged between 5 and 11 years. Apart from the recently made jewellery, the exhibition consisted of wirework sculptures, watercolour & acrylic paintings, clay head sculptures, monoprints, puppets, fossil plastercast tiles, clay coil pots, bowls made from magazines and sketchbooks constructed from handmade paper .
My exhibits were some homemade mini meringues with fresh cream which were scoffed pretty quickly.
I’m really pleased to say that next September all the classes are fully booked with a waiting list of eager young students wanting to join.
The Art Cabin will present 2 workshops this summer. Due to the positive feedback from the young artists, we will be holding a jewellery making workshop. The other will be a painting techniques workshop.
Below are a few more photos of the jewellery created by the children.
