This project has involved children aged from 4 to 11 years. Whilst working at the Art Cabin I often have small projects on the go and this mosaic happens to be one of those projects.
Working outdoors in the village school’s gazeebo gave me the perfect opportunity to get all the children at the school involved in learning how to decorate a pot with mosaic tiles.
I sketched a design on the pot with chalk and then got the children to stick the colourful tesserae (glass tiles) on the pot. The adhesive and grout are waterproof so this pot can eventually grace the outdoors.
This pot was designed especially as a leaving gift for the Headmaster who is retiring. All the children at the school participated. An olive tree was planted in the pot and presented to the Head on the last day of term. We were all very pleased with the end result ….. and the children want to make more.
