The best still life compositions have to be the ones you can eat (from a child’s point of view of course …. er hum…)
So at the Art Cabin’s watercolour painting workshop, different fruits were arranged for the still life project. Before the children launched into their paintings I gave them a simple lesson about watercolour techniques. For example, they practised how to create washes, how to achieve shadows, colour mixing and achieving thick and thin lines.
The children then began to paint the fruit (or some of it) that was placed on their table. At this point the room was quiet with intense concentration (note to self: Do still life painting more often).
The finished paintings were very colourful and the fruit ….. tasted delicious.
My thanks must go to Jazzy who took some lovely photos of the workshop.
